Hi I have a Wisconsin engine with a magneto model number AENL and another number on name tag of 52B75. Im looking for Points for this engine and have exhausted
all sources that would be possibilities. Can anyone help me with a source or a way to go about finding points maybe with the original one in hand. Its of course
an older model and no one seems to have any parts for the Wisconsin engine. Thanks Mark
 
This should not be impossible once we know exactly what you have, Wisconsin didn't make the magneto so that opens up a wider usage/more likely parts availability.


Fairbanks or WICO magneto?

Got a photo of the points?
 
Wisconsin engines the most common magneto used was the Fairbanks Type J. If this is what you have. They use the same points, condenser as the type J 4B3 magneto used on Allis Chalmers WC and WD magnetos.

Standard Ignition ("SMP") is a supplier of aftermarket parts, and many auto parts stores carry that brand, I have posted the part numbers for the points and condensers for both the WICO and Fairbanks Morse magneto options below.

If no one locally handles that brand they should be able to cross the "Standard" numbers to whatever brand they sell.

Amazon also shows all four part numbers as being available there.

According to the Standard Ignition Industrial Ignition catalog the mag options for the AENL and the part numbers for the Standard Ignition points and condensers each requires.

You can look at the photos and see which match what you have. HTH!

Fairbanks Morse magneto #FMXD1B7U, -4
Points... S10-478
Condenser... S6-138

WICO magneto #XH2504
Points...S4-440
Condensers... S4-188

I will get the point out and see if I can determine what model magneto I have. Your detailed help is greatly appreciated. It will be a few days till I will be able to get back to you. Mark

That is a Fairbanks Morse magneto. it is not a type J or type X. Could be a type R or type V. Should be marked on the side of the aluminum housing.
 
I have a set of oem Fairbanks points here. They do not match yours. You magneto is not a type H, K, M,OH, or R.
 
I may be wrong but those look like the old silver contacts. If so you can carefully use a points file and make them new again and they will still be much better than anything you can buy today.

M-MAN, I don't see where any of the points at the official Wisconsin site match what the O.P. has.

Seems STRANGE.

Looking at his photo, the points he has seem to be correct for the plate they are mounted on, look at the slot in the points that matched the slot in the mounting plate to use a flat screwdriver to move the points to adjust them.

Check out the points for an Alice Chalmers B on this site. I'm not good with pictures but it looks like it might be it.

I just remembered today that I got some for a fm magneto on my Contenntal power unit from the local AC dealer ages ago.
