Where can I find a torsion spring for the governor control on a 6 hp. Fairbanks Morse? Thanks, Mark

If you can't find one, you can can make one. It's easy to do. Get the right wire diameter, wrap it (cold) around a mandrel that's somewhat smaller than the final I.D., and then trim it to the number of coils you need, bend the ends how they should be, etc.. For more consistency, you can do it in a lathe with a follower close to the mandrel, keeping the wire tight and the coils together. If you don't have a lathe, you can use a drill press the same way: chuck up your mandrel, make a stop/guide and give it a go. Drill presses are primitive vertical lathes. You can mount a center in the table's hole beneath the chuck if you need to.

Not that it matters, but my Reid has been running for fifteen years on an intake spring I made that way.
