Hi I have a Fairmont type 09 motor has any body got ideas on how to start run it.
still some work to free up controls
but it turns easily and has compression ???

yes but where does it get its power from and what volts are the coils the springs and bits on the carbie and throttle are rusted but that's not much of a problem as long as springs don't have specific strengths
thanks for your response

(quoted from post at 08:16:46 12/10/19) 6 volt battery. Do you know how to wire it up?
no idea it only has some wires going to a switch and then to the coil
do they have an in built charging system to keep battery up??
thanks for your response

Not sure on your model but the ones I have have no charging system. Battery is
grounded positive to ground then negative goes to coil then to the lever & points on
the left flywheel. When the points close it completes the circuit to ground & the buzz
coil produces a steady spark. Do you have any pictures?

My late Uncle had a Fairmont engine, I'm not sure of the model, in nice shape, and we never got around to starting it, sadly it was sold along with the rest of his engine collection to pay nursing home bills, I think I still have the books for it around somewhere.

If you GOOGLE "Fairmont engine instructions" all sorts of info comes up, manuals for sale, and manuals viewable on-line for free.

Below is a link to one (.pdf format), I have not idea how closely the info would apply to your model.

Ignition system info is on page 14.
