Wico Series A Disassembly

I'm working on a Novo AG with a Wico A series magneto. It sparks, the impulse works, but the whole thing is very stiff. Standard Magneto says I need to disassemble it and free up the sleeve bearing. How do you disassemble this thing? Remove the nut holding the impulse? Remove the screw holding the points eccentric? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I don't know about the A series. The XH series. You remove the complete impulse assembly. Then the four screws large slotted screws. Pry gently and the magnetic rotor and rear bearing all come out the back. The breaker plat in the front holds the bushing. Some are held with normal slotted screws and some require a special screwdriver as the screws are "one way" screws. Meaning a normal screwdriver will tighten them but can't remove them.

Thank you TractorGuy2. That's kind of the direction I was headed, but I understand the A series uses a brass sleeve bushing, and that's where the problem lies. A magneto guy told me sometimes the shaft gets a burr on it because the magneto never gets oiled, and that burr can really mess things up when you pull the shaft. I'm treading pretty carefully because it took me several years to find this magneto - it turns clockwise, which is not common. Your description of the large screws matches mine - I suspect the later models used many of the same ideas, but added a ball bearing. Thanks again.
