what is best grease for babbitt bearings?

I would use just grade 2 tractor type grease or maybe wheel bearing grease.
Just make sure you grease it often without putting too much grease.

Some generic wheel bearing style grease in a can is all you need. Don't sweat the details. Most anything you put in there is far better than what was available 80 years ago.

We had a lot of rabbit bearings at the local mill I worked at.
In hot weather we used ep2 grease, in cold weather we switched to ep1 because it was easier to pump into the bearings.
In hot weather ep1 didn't stay on the bearings long.

hello Destroked 450
thanks for reply, I have seen oilers for lubricating bearings , but this one has grease cups and it has not been converted to high tension ignition... I am in UK

I should have said thanks for all replies... I now know what grease to use .. I want to make a frame so it is fixed onto axle and put curtain sides around it
