Update on my Maytag project...

Cleaning it all up and getting ready to put it back together... not many of the original parts being used since they were in such tough shape it was less $$ to buy better parts than rebuild what I had. It will still have the original magneto backing plate, cylinder, piston, and fuel tank...

Here's what I started with:

And where I'm at now:

Looking good. I still hope that you will save the rest of the cultivator outfit. It's a unique item, that I wouldn't mind having, myself.

If you'd like to come to ND to pick it up, you're welcome to it...

I'd like to build a little run-around for my Maytag or even a go-kart to cruise the neighborhood. Of course, I have a long way to go before it's even running!

I'm sure I won't get to putting it back together until I come back to AZ in August. Need to order a few more parts, as well...

I'll have to look that cultivator over this summer, maybe mount a running engine on it and see if it works!

(quoted from post at 09:59:23 05/31/08) I just got 2 of those recently. One is stuck, one is loose. It will make a good project this winter.

Yep, good project engines that don't take up much room. I'm hoping to use mine either on an actual Maytag washer or build a little go-kart for it... plenty to keep me busy for quite a while!

A few more pics of my minor progress. No spark when kicking it over, but good spark when spinning it with a drill, figure the magnet is weak and/or the points need to be in better shape.

More parts to be ordered in August when I have the time and hopefully some $$ left over after driving across half the country...

(quoted from post at 14:15:00 06/09/08) Steve,
Pretty country, where you are at.I'm up on the NE corner.

Fort Mohave is where I'm living right now, right next to Bullhead City, across the River from Laughlin, NV and about 20 miles from Needles, CA.

I can see all three states from my back yard!

It's getting hot (nearly 110 today!) and I'm anxious to get back to ND where it's in the 60's...
