Starters from China

Anyone had any trouble with these
aftermarket starters?
My Kabota B6100 starter was just clicking.
So I replaced it after being frustrated.
New starter basically does the same thing.
After repeat attempts it will go. Until today when I
had to wrap on it with a mallet.
Should I spend the big money on a Kabota
starter or will that be Chinese too?
This is a 3 cylinder diesel. 1984.

I know nothing specific about your ''Kabota'' but many such problems have been solved by installing a little ''ice cube relay'' near the starter that is triggered by the ''start'' signal from the ignition switch and switches battery power to the solenoid on the starter with much less voltage drop.

I've been around two 80's Kubotas (different models than yours) where the key switch started failing - not making good contact when turned to 'start', and thus not sending enough current to the solenoid to give the magnet enough juice to contact well. I'd definitely be looking into that if I were you: Install a momentary switch jumpering right from the main positive connection to the solenoid input wire and see if that fixes it.

Not sure you can get any B series parts anymore. I have a B5200 and it's been many years since I was able to get any parts from kubota for it.

If it has a starter solenoid, maybe the heavy contacts inside are badly pitted and/or arc damaged.

If you bump the key to start position enough times the solenoid will maybe make good enough contact sometimes.

I have opened up more than one solenoid and resurfaced the contacts to like new.

Thank you all for your replies.
I had tried the direct switch and wire but it it didn't help.
Seems like it improves the more I use it.
Usually the worst after sitting for a few weeks.
Maybe I'll try the relay.
