1963 Ford 2000 - Major cracked front axle bolster questi

Hi All,

First post.

So, I have a 1963 Ford 2000 - 4cyl gas that gets used regularly.

I have a front loader on it that I use to move hay around for my cows.

Problem: The front axle bolster has split in several places and is causing alignment problems with my front hydraulic pump and fan shroud.

I have looked all over the internet trying to find a replacement part, but most of the bolsters I have seen all suggest they are for later model tractors than mine. They are very heavy and shipping will cost as much as some of the parts, so I'm reluctant to just take a shot in the dark on this. I do not have access to a parts manual, and cannot find a part number on the bolster. It appears to be stamped steel, not cast like some of the replacements I'm seeing.

Can any of you more experienced guys point me to the correct part for my tractor? Problem is getting worse...

I don't know where you are located and don't know of any parts for your tractor in my area. BUT I believe
I would stop using it before you have to replace a radiator or possibly the front end is a lot closer to
the ground than you want it to be. It's your tractor so do as you please. Someone lese on here can
possibly fix you up if you tell them where you're at. They also might know of what other models ford front
bolster would fit on it. I have an 800 series ford for parts but I have no idea if it would fit or not.

Heya Keith, thanks for your response.
I am located in southern Colorado. Thanks also for your advice...yes, the situation is getting progressively worse and although I really need the tractor, I don't really need additional damage. It's going to be a big enough job replacing the ailing part. I was thinking the same thing about another model using the same bolster. That's pretty much why I posted up here, figuring there would be one or more guru's that would know about this. Hoping to hear something positive soon...

Wore Out,

Both the New Holland parts site and Tractordata indicate the first year for the ''2000'' was 1965.

The parts catalog for the ''2000'' doesn't seem to list a stamped steel front bolster.

Are you SURE you have a ''2000'' or could it be some other model or s foreign version??

Heya Wore Out...

Well, the research I have done suggests the first year for the 2000 was 1962. There are several sites that have posted serial number ranges... My S/N is 21201, which puts it in mid '63.
Yes, I'm sure it's a 2000. Apparently there was a major redesign of the 2000 in 1965, which is why most part lists start there... and probably why you don't see many parts listed for the earlier models.

(quoted from post at 13:02:52 10/27/23) I would think that you could weld that thing up. I have seen many of them welded.

Thank you for the advice, I have considered that my backup plan if I'm unable to find a good part. The tricky part might be getting it bent back into its original shape before I try to weld it. But, hoping that someone here will be able to point me to a good part number or a good part off another tractor.

I totally blew my first reply, and corrected it, but the corrected version doesn't appear to show in ''Modern View''.

GOOGLE ''Ford 312710'' or ''New Holland 312710''

Yes!! That looks very similar to mine. I guess I will try to find someone online that actually has one for sale and see about getting it here.

If anyone else has a different idea of the part, please feel free to respond, but, I think Wore Out has nailed it!

Thanks VERY MUCH!!!!

Greetings from Golden
You may know this but a 601 Series Ford is nearly the same
tractor aside from sheet metal, maybe its predecessor the
600 Series bolsters would work too? I would post the
question to the Ford board belowmaybe the 800/801
Series could work as well? Cross Creek, Alexanders, etc.
dismantles these
Good luck

Thank you to everyone who has supplied some input here. I located a part on eBay which should be arriving tomorrow at my house. So I have a busy weekend ahead of me, thanks to those of you who contributed to pointing me in the right direction for this part.
