New Idea Sickle Mower No. 30B

I'm trying to get an older New Idea 7ft sickle mower in operating condition. I took the drain plug out of the large gear box. All that came out was water. Is there grease in this box or gear lube? And how do you add grease or whatever?
 
Dennis - it's probably been 30 - 40 years since I've used one of those NI mowers, but I'm certain the box needs gear lube. I don't remember a fill plug, but the ring of bolts around the box would let you remove the entire top. You should look inside anyhow, since it had water in it. It's a pretty simple mechanism. On another thread, someone mentioned a spring that would commonly fail, and I remember replacing the worn out dog in the gearbox on ours. I don't know if parts are still available. Good luck.
 
On to another issue. I have the mower all put together now. A problem has developed with the pitman.
The mechanism that attaches the pitman to the sickle seems to be worn out. When I run the pto, the
sickle becomes detached from the sickle. Does anyone know of parts availability for these mowers?
 
I would be interested in this answer also. Im looking for the spring that goes into the end of the pitman for the latch assembly.
