1964 ford 2000 starter

Hi all,
I'm trying to replace the starter on my 1964 ford 2000 4 cylinder 12 volt gas tractor. I'll leave a link and pictures. The new one i got seems to be fit incorrectly but the website says its the correct match. Hopefully someone has seen something like this and can give me some advice. It doesnt sit flush to the tractor, theres a small gap as seen in the photo. I also noticed when i got the new one that the side of the old starter is flat compared to the new one which has indents. Any advice would be appreciated, maybe i just got the wrong starter?

The lip on the mounting flange isn't inside the plate hole like it should be. If it won't wiggle enough to slip in send it back.

im not sure which spacer plate your talking about. ill attach a couple more pictures here. looks like the lip of the mounting flange is hitting the cowbell shaped thing inside of the plate hole not allowing it to fully insert.

hi thanks for responding, i just attached a couple pictures to another reply but looks like mounting hole doesnt let the lip of the flange get all the in for some reason.
