806 power steering issue

Hello all,

Power steering issues with the 806. A new mcv was installed, we've gone through the hand pump, no visual wear in it. A new seal kit was installed in it as well. We've had the control valve off and found no issues with it either.

Brakes are strong and push back upon start up. After start up, with the front wheels off the ground she slowly turns right until it cannot turn any further. This is without touching the steering wheel. The steering wheel is hard turning and you cannot turn it back to the left. We can pry the front wheels back straight and as soon as we let go she turns to the right again.

We've installed a new spring and oring in the mcv valve on the bottom side of it as well.

We have also replaced the filter and put new hyd. oil in it.

A number of years ago the steering let loose like said above and she was parked. After rebuilding the injection pump, we are back to square one and battling this steering issue again.

We are thinking its the hand pump and ordered a used one to swap it out. Hoping for different results, but it will be a few days before we get it.

We've looked through a ton of similar steering issues on this form and others, but there's nothing quite the same as the issues we are having.

We have not torn into the front bolster yet, but could that be where our issue is?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Grant

Hello Grant welcome to YT! If the steering wheel did
not turn hard like that prior to the hand pump below
the wheel being worked on it was probably not
assembled correctly. Did you have a manual to follow
for that repair. If not you have something out of place
in the pump, they are very finicky units. Hopefully the
used hand pump will work properly. In the future I
would suggest posting about issues with your tractor
on the ..Farmall and IH.. forum. The guys with IH
knowledge hang out there. Easiest way to explain how
to get to it is to use the ..Hop to.. or ..Jump to.. drop
down at the bottom of a topic that is being viewed.
