I need help figuring out my lift problem on my ford 4000SU hydraulics. Lift will go up and down but not under load.
history:
1. tractor and lift were working fine, was able to lift a 4 bottom plow in idle.
2. bought a crappy remote off amazon.
3. put it on, and it did not work. (At this point i am pretty sure it deadheaded the pump.)
4. took it off and the lift did not work.
5. checked fluid and all that, tried it again still did not work. put the block off plate back on. lift still did not work.
6. talked to a few knowledgeable people, and started trouble shooting.
7. took the block off plate back off and put in new orings. Nothing.
8. took out the pump and checked the o-rings in there. put the pump back in and nothing. (took the access panel off the left side to see in and make sure the two tubes - intake and small line to pto - went back in.)
9. was suggested to try changing the relief valve (on bottom side of pump) could not get it out (position) so took the pump out again, got the relieve valve out and ordered a new one. when it came in i wiped down the pump really well and discovered big crack in pump. thought for sure that had to be the problem.
10. with help got a new - old stock/original - pump. put it in sure that would solve it. same. lift arms work with no load, add a relatively light load, like a brush hog and will not lift *** if you rev the motor it will lift a little.
back to square one.
took the access panel on left side off so i can see in there. nothing is raining down from the lift plate or cylinder, there is a very small steam the comes from the top, hardly more than dripping. revved it, control lever up - down -up down no fluid "appears" to be coming down from the top.
everything looks fine when you look in there, but lift arms still don't work with load.
the crappy hydraulic remote deadheaded the pump and broke it and something else and i can not figure it out. I don't know what i am doing but i have two very knowledgeable guys giving me advice and nothing seems to work. not the pump, not the relief valve, nothing dripping down from the top,
i tried different positions with the flow control, which should not matter, the draft control, which should not matter, the fluid is full to the port to indicate full (on the pump) but should not matter.
if you have any advice or ideas, i would love to hear them, i will answer any other quests that will help diagnose.
thank you.
