case 495 steering question

We have the UK version of the 495 and we keep blowing an Oring out of the front steering cylinder. Now we have broken the threaded end right off the ram. There must be something else wrong with the Transmission / hydraulic fluid pressure? Bypass? Any ideas? I will also need to find a source for the ram (or ram piston) and the clevis which goes on the end.

Hello Donn welcome to YT. All I can suggest is to
figure out how to tee a gauge into the hose or lines to
see if the pressure is going higher than the specs. I am
linking the CNHI online parts catalog section for the
PS. Keep in mind this is the North American version.
The diagram looks like it is the correct one. The ram is
PN 549668R3 which shows as unavailable but they
show a $271 price. A web search shows multiple
sources for the ram, including some European ones if
that is where you are.

The only way I would know would be by the gauge. Not
sure if the book gives a pressure. May have to put the
gauge set up on another tractor of the same model to
compare pressures.
