Is there a primer I can use on the
cast iron body of the tractor I won't
need to sand? I removed all the
grease, oil and dirt. I am going over
EVERYTHING with a wire wheel. Before
I put on any paint I will wipe it
down with acetone and then a tack
cloth. Not looking for a show tractor
or a trailer queen. I use this
tractor. Also not talking about any
of the tin. I am not a painter so go
easy on me. Lol

This is a very easy question to answer because the consensus is high. What you want is epoxy. It is kind of an insurance policy that all the work that you are putting into it will not be for nothing. The only potential draw back is the re-coat time. I just shot it on a 960 Wednesday and I had to have my top coat ready because re-coat had to be within 6 hours. Most of them give you longer, but you still need to stay in the time frame or scuff it all before top coating.

I'm not a painter either lol, but did paint a backhoe 7 or 8 years using Agco primer, no sanding of primer required. I prepped it similar to you and paint is holding up good, machine is always outside. Also primed my '64 Super Major 5000 with Agco primer except for the rims that where sand blasted and epoxy primed. That was 2 yrs ago.

Agco is the brand. What type is it?

That is old school (cheap) alkyd enamel. It may do what you want, if you are not worried about how it looks in five years.
