What do you think of the Rust-Oleum farm and implement paint? I found some in John Deere Green for half the price of John Deere brand. I am getting ready to paint some areas (under the block and such.) and I'm wondering what you guys think about it. Is it good paint? Does it match up to original John Deere Green? I believe it's a enamel.

Yes it's an alkyd enamel. I painted a kubota tractor with it 14 years ago and it's holding up very good. The color is just now starting to fade.

There are different people in the different
forums too!
I don't take extra time to look at the JD
forum, every time I get on here, he's cross
posting to get more answers.

Thanks for sharing about the difference in
the paints... GG

I think the alkyd enamels are still the most durable for heavy duty, farm-type use. These products are what we had always referred to as oil-base products, like Dupont Dulux enamel
years ago. Today they are usually the tractor company's labeled paint and also certain Rustoleum products which are oil-based products. In the old days, - ALL Rustoleum products were
oil-based. Now they have hundreds of products and you have to read the specs of each product to make sure you get what you want.

I like it , brushes out nice . Mixed it 8 to 1 to brush .
I used it on the implements, color and luster retaining well so far after a year.
I dont think Ill spray it . Use a Tallmans for that they got here .

I'm a big fan of RO paints. Been restoring
tractors for 30 years.
I use brush on as well as rattlecans.
Been using the 2 in 1 cans for a few years
and so far so good.
With ANY paint, the surface prep is key.
It's got to be clean and dry!
Good luck!
