hello Everyone,
I am in search of the best rust inhibitor product to effectively treat my metal objects. Having used the product rust converter, I am wondering if there are other options that are more effective.

Therefore, I am reaching out to you today to gather your recommendations. What are the most effective rust inhibitor products you have used? Which ones would you recommend in terms of rust prevention and treatment?

Your experiences and advice will be highly valuable to me. Thank you in advance for your contributions!

Best regards,

Lots of folks on here love the Evap-O-Rust type products. I myself have no
patience for it. It works, but I find its efficacy is pretty limited compared
to the more potent old-school chemicals. My go-to is some sort of phosphoric
acid (naval jelly) wash; it converts the iron oxide (rust) to a more stable
iron phosphate, which seals and prevents against further rust.

Whatever product you choose, it'll work best if you get rid of as much surface
rust as possible before using. My main use for rust converters is for old
tractor gas tanks. In these cases, strapping the tank to a cement mixer and
letting the rust converter tumble around with a few handfuls of
bolts/nuts/chain seems to work best. Some folks do the same thing by strapping
the tank to a tractor wheel, jacking the one wheel off the ground, and letting
it idle away in gear (Just be sure your diff lock's not on or it could get
interesting).

I agree with Daniel. What you want is phosphoric acid. I have been using it for years, but I get it free from where I work. The instructions for the product that you posted about look good. Check the SDS for whatever you ate considering. It can be purchased economically by the gallon or 4 gallon case at food service supply or dairy supply stores.

Any product containing phosphoric acid will be effective. I have used Rustoleum Rust Converter (It's hard to find any longer., Ospho and other brands with
equally satisfactory results. My preference is to clean with a 40 or 60 grit flap disc on a 4 1/2 grinder as the first step. This results in a much smoother
surface that if just using a wire brush, wire cup brush on a grinder, etc. Allow 24 hours to dry and then paint with your primer and then top coat. In my mind
sandblasting between the flap disc step and applying the rust converter adds to the quality of the finished product.

You can buy full strength phosphoric acid
from Amazon.
A gallon was about $40 a year ago.
Add warm and wait for the rust to turn
black or gray. Don't remember.
May take some time for it to work.

I use an Eastwood product called After Blast. Apply with spray bottle and always wipe it down after spraying. Purchased by the gallon. Lasts long time for me. Was around $40 a gallon when last purchased couple years ago.
