When the rear arms come up they seem to fall back down very quickly....within 2 minutes. Also when i bring them up and keep the lever against the backstop , to keep the implement raised, the tractor starts to rock up and down.....any ideas?

You might try posting about this on the Fordson Forum, found in the Manufacturers section of the forum index a bit further down the list from this forum. There might be someone, with Fordson knowledge, who checks that forum that doesn't check this forum.

Considering the age of your Super Major, the first thing I would look at are the O rings under the control valve under your legs as you are
seated, and I would also remove the hydraulic lift cover(there is one cap screw hidden underneath the hydraulic control I first mentioned, in
a recess), that holds the lift cylinder. You will need some form of lift equipment, a come along or chain hoist at a minimum, they are very
heavy, Lift it carefully, because there is a return filter on a steel tube that hangs down into the oil sump. Remove the lift cylinder from
the cover, and replace the O rings between the two pieces, I would also recommend replacing the lift piston seal. You can find a great deal
of information, and some great exploded parts diagrams if you Google Fordson Major Hydraulic lift systems. I would also highly recommend
that you purchase a repair manual, and an operators manual. And Jim is correct, if you go the the Fordson site, Majorman checks it
frequently, and has a vast knowledge of the Fordsons. Good luck
