Fordson super major

Had my major in a shed standing for several years. It's time to move it to my home. Struggling to start but that's not my first problem, one of the back wheels is locked on. Tryed to drag it, only forward with no luck. Will try to drag it backwards if this doesn't work is there a way without big hassle to losen it off so it can go on a recovery vehicle. Any tips would be appreciated as I'm new to the hobby.. Thanks in advance

Hello Stevie welcome to YT! Unfortunately I am Farmall
guy so I cannot really help you with your problem. It
sounds like the brake has stuck. There is a topic
section here for Fordson tractors, someone there can
surely help you out. Please repost this on there, see
link.

Super Majors have dry disc brakes. To the back of and underneath the step plates is a round cast housing with a cast cover. remove that
cover, and you should be able to access the brake assembly. You might be able to free it by tapping the actuator back with a soft face
hammer also. The Major series also had a hand brake, on the right side ahead of the right steering brake, is it released? Don't mean to be
a smartalek, but I have had to pull the side cover and cut many of them apart with a torch, from people leaving them partially released.

Hi, yes the hand brake is off fully. As i believe there's one brak case either side below the foot steps. It's the nearside rear wheel thats stuck. A guy dragged it out of the barn and it didn't move. Someone suggested pulling it backwards might help.
Can the case be removed without the wheel off even if thats a struggle as i might be on my own. If i can release this wheel it can be pulled on a trailer back home.
Thanks Steve

You should be able to remove the step plate, then remove the bolts and remove the brake cover(it is also the outer braking surface. There will be a lined brake disc, the operating mechanism, then another lined disc. The operating mechanism is held together with 3 or 4 short springs, inside are balls that work on the ramped seats. The lined friction discs may have rusted to the steel brake surfaces. The Piece on the end with the two bolt cover is the differential lock operating mechanism, and if I remember correctly should jus come off with the brake cover. Sorry, 76 year old brain that hasn't worked on one for 40+ years.
