Ford NAA Generator

Hello, We have a Ford NAA that we need a new generator for. The current generator is a FAA 10139A, I'm not sure if there is a replacement out there for this one. Thank you!

Is the one you have wrong, broken, not working?

If it fits and was working, good chance it can be repaired.

Have you looked inside? It may be as simple as a dirty commutator, or it very
likely could be repaired.

This one is available on this site, would it work?

efinitely investigate gen internals, but if it comes to replacement, I personally wouldn't do the $380 generator, but rather convert to 12v Neg ground alternator for $117.

Hello, we're not familiar with these generators. Maybe we can take a look at the insides. Any place we could get more specific information on the generator? Who would work on these? Thank you!

There are still a few starter/alternator/generator shops around.

The best thing to do would be to take the entire tractor to them, let them diagnose and repair it.

I assume this is still 6 volt. If you desire to keep it 6v, be ready to spend some money! Six volt generator
systems will work, but they can be cantankerous, everything has to be just right. Two of the problems are
high cost and low quality batteries and voltage regulators.

An alternative is to convert it to 12 volt with an alternator. That is what most people do for a working
tractor, save the generator system for show tractors and those who know all the tricks to keep one working.

If you have basic mechanical, electrical skills and the means to make a mount bracket, we can walk you
through the conversion, or the same electrical repair shop can do it if they are interested.

Hello, Not sure if you're still able to help with the Ford NAA coversion to 12V.

We see the conversion kit. But are there more parts that need to be changed beyond installing the kit and a battery? My son-in-law thinks we may need lights (bulbs) also a coil? I see in the conversion part kit that it states no coil needed. We're trying to acquire all the parts to start the conversion. Thank you in advance.

eed 12v bulbs and a 12v coil OR insert a resistor (commonly called ballast resistor) in series with current 6v coil.

There's a lot of YouTube videos on this subject. You can start with this one if you have an interest.
