What's the mag air gap...

I was taught to use the cardboard that the new points came in for a gauge.I would rather have the gap to lean than too wide,just as long as the flywheel doesn't hit you will be fine.
 
That may be a little close. Always heard use a paper business card, but those are sometimes hard to come by now.

Maybe fold the paper about 3 times would be closer.

If you can push the flywheel toward the coil and make it rub, it's too close.
 
If I don't have any factory specs I just set it as close as possible so it doesn't make contact which has always worked fine. I like to have the flywheel and magnets all clean n smooth. Of course, use factory specs NOT what anyone here including me may guess...
