Wiring a switch to my 1955 ford 650

Having trouble getting power from my switch/ to my terminal block to power my coil. I installed a new switch/ and can get power on the switch body. But nothing from either wire. My understanding is I should have power at one wire/ switch off/ and both switch on. Am I missing something?

Is this a universal ignition switch?

If so, the terminals are usually labeled, BAT, IGN, ACC, and STA.

Check your wire arrangement, check the function of the switch with a volt meter or test light.

Just one of the standard key switches/ with a yellow and black wire coming off it.

I'd say you have other wiring problems and timeto use a VOM or test light and find out where your loosing voltage at

I ordered a switch part number 8N3679C. This is my first tractor restoration. The one I had purchased just had a toggle switch. Instead of a key. So I replaced it with the one mentioned above. I also rebuilt a new wiring harness as the old wiring was toast. Everything seems to be working fine. Turning over from the foot switch. But I have no power at the terminal block. I checked with a test light and the switch body its self has power from being mounted to the tractor, but cant get power from either wire switch on or off. My understanding is one wire goes to each side of the terminal block/ one side has the coil wire/ witch I assume is hot only when the key is on. And the other wire goes to the other side with a wire from the top terminal on the voltage regulator marked bat and a wire going to the voltage meter that returns to the battery side of the starter solenoid

I looked up the switch, it is a simple on/off switch.

One side of the switch should be wired to the battery, as you say, the wire from the solenoid, amp meter, and regulator. That side will have voltage all the time.

The other wire feeds the ignition coil. It should have voltage when the switch is on.

If that is not happening, the switch is bad, even if it is new.

The color does not matter, the switch is not polarity sensitive.

our use of the term "voltage meter" says volumes about your lack of understanding of electronics....no wounder you are having troubles?

Tractor guru your spelling of the word wonder tells me all I need to know. Thanks for nothing and keep on trolling troll
