JD 301A

I need help determining the year for a John Deere 301A. Type: T4W3D Serial: 068127T. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The serial number format you posted shows as used for the JD300s in the parts catalog. What I find is the following:

T = Tractor
4 = JD300
W = Industrial
3 = Diesel
D = Collar shift with reverser

Serial number: 068127 (This number falls within the 1968 build range of the serial numbers found for 350 and 450 crawlers, I have not found a list for the 300's, however think they were intermingled with the crawlers and other industrial units. If someone has an actual list of the 300 serial numbers it would be great.)

T= (Build location) John Deere Dubuque Works

It appears to me this serial number is a 1968 JD300 Industrial tractor. The loader would have had a separate model with serial number.

The early 301As used the following serial number format: 301-A D 0000000T. Later 301As used the newer product ID with entirely different format.
