Ferguson TO30 Lift Cylinder repair

I am looking for some help with my hydraulic lift cylinder repair.
I have a Ferguson TO30 with a front loader (scoop).
One of the lift cylinders won't lift, so I got into it to see why.
I found the piston missing from the end of the rod, and can't seem to find a replacement.
The cylinder internal bore is 2" ID
The smallest piston I can seem to find is a 2-1/2".
Anyone run into a similar problem and find a workable solution?
If push comes to shove, I suppose I could pull the working piston from the other cylinder and take it to a machine shop to get one made, but would prefer to just buy a new one readymade.
Ideas??

We can not see what you have, more than one loader could be used on your tractor, so it could be one of several different cylinders. Some cylinders that were used did not have a piston of the type it sounds like you are looking for.

Pictures would help. You can try to post pictures but usually people can do that until they have at least 5 posts. If you can't get a picture to post, you need to go down the list to the forum titled Site comments and ask permission to post pictures.

Is there anything for an identification tag on the loader?

Is it a single or double acting cylinder?

Is there a threaded hole in the end of the rod for a capscrew (or a threaded stub on the end of the rod for a nut) to attach a piston?

You said the cylinder internal bore is 2". What is the diameter of the rod?

Does the bucket have a cylinder to roll it back and to dump, or just a trip lever to dump it?

What is your general location?

If you make several posts, answering one or two questions in each, you may be able to post pictures when you finish 5 posts. The size of the picture, or pictures if multiple are in one post, must be less than 7MB. You will find info about posting in the FAQ section. Scroll down to "Can I post images".

Thanks Jim

You may be right about the cylinders, i took the working one apart and it doesnt have a piston, either.
The cylinder bore measues 2", the rod diameter is 1-3/4, and has an 1-7/8" ring (collar?)welded onto the end of it, but no seal on the ring to seal it to the bore of the cylinder. There are no threads in the end of the rod, and no indication of anything attached to or riding against the end of the rod.
The lift cylinders are single acting, but the dump cylinder is double acting (new cylinder).
I attempted to bleed any trapped air from the non-working cylinder by loosening the packing nut and operating the lift several times, seems to help a bit...
There is a castin number on the gland coupling 702-148, i have not been successful in cross referencing it to a 2" cylinder.
I think this is an original attachment to the tractor, It is a 1950 TO-30, still in what appears to be original yellow paint. Maybe an industrial/construction tractor?
Apparently i need to post some more to attach photos?
Thanks for your help!
