Painting plastic fuel tank and fiberglass hood.

I am finishing restoration of a CaseIH 5220. I need to paint the plastic fuel tank and fiberglass part of the top of the cab. Both black. Any thoughts about what paint to use?

you need to use an adhesion promoter. we use a product here at the body shop called bulldog. here is a link.

On the gas tank use an adhesion promoter and then use an alcohol resistant primer. Most important is to topcoat with an automotive urethane paint. The gas they make today will eat through many different kinds of paint and lift it. Gas will make an alkyd enamel wrinkle up like you put paint stripper on it.

Fiberglass won't be any problem. It will paint easier than metal. Just prime it and paint it as though it was metal.
