Hydraulic Cylinder Repair

I have a hydraulic cylinder that has an external hard tube. The tube itself has a leak on the underside near the cylinder wall. I assume rust made a pinhole.

What might be the ways to repair it?

Thanks,
Don

REPLACE is the best way. 2500 plus psi is nothing to mess with and think about what can happen if it splits and sends the oil and piece of metal into who know what

I am not looking to cut safety corners however this part is not sitting on someones shelf. Not knowing how the barrel is assembled, I thought it might be possible to replace the tube with a proper part. Will call a hydraulic shop and find out what they do with something like this. Brazing / Welding or cutting out a section and replacing it with compression fittings is what comes to mind if the whole tube can't be replaced.

Red, one basic problem here is that it is like repairing anything else with a rust pinhole. As you clean it up in preparation for the repair you keep finding more and more rust.

Agreed.

The right shop can likely replace the tube. Is the tube attached (welded) to the cylinder at one point or two? Not being able to see it, could it be replaced with a hose by welding an adapter fitting at the end where it attaches to the port in the cylinder and clamping the hose to hold it at the other end of the cylinder?

The cylinder is a welded type. Ar one end the tube fits into a manifold that the hose connects to. The other end goes into a round component which is attached to the cylinder body.

The attached picture shows where the leak is.

I will call a shop when they open. Depends on downtime.
I was thinking about a hose with a brazed fitting or a proper compression fittings.
