Piston ring question

Working on a rare Italian diesel engine. Has 92 MM rings. I found 92 MM ring but the oil ring is 5.5 MM wide and I can only find 4 MM wide rings. Can I put a 1.5 MM compression ring on top of the 4 mm ring to fill in the 5.5 MM grove. Do you see a problem with doing this

Hi DIM-
You can use a used 92 x 1.5mm compression ring next to the 4 mm oil ring in a 5.5mm wide groove and it will work fine. A compression ring used in an oil ring groove on a piston will not hold any compression due to the oil vent holes in the bottom of the groove so the 1.5 mm ring is only acting as a spacer. Being a diesel I am assuming a cast iron 4 mm oil ring will be used. The 3 piece car type oil rings may be really hard to assemble without something not going together correctly.
Thanks,
