mf super 90

hello this is my first time using this site I have a mf super 90 it is a gasoline tractor I need to rebuild the engine in it but I am having trouble finding parts I found a engine rebuild kit but I don't have 2,459 dollars to just spend on it some one told me to look into converting it into a diesel would that be cheaper if it is cheaper how would I convert it to a diesel I cant find anything to tell me how to do that thanks for the help

Welcome Old Red!

I can't answer specific questions about if the diesel will be a drop in replacement for the gas. There is a Massey Harris/Massey Ferguson forum below, someone can probably answer that question.

Appears the diesel was a more common engine for that tractor, so there should be some engines out there.

Problem is, if this can be done, and you find an engine, best be sure it is a good one, as rebuilding a diesel is a very expensive ordeal. They are not like gas engines that a few well placed short cuts are allowed. Everything must be up to specs in order for it to survive. They can be money hungry beasts!
