Hi everybody thank you all for letting me join your forum i have read many pages and topics that have helped me with my tractor. Ive come to join and seek help and help others whenever i can. My tractor i believe to be a 1957 Case 320B wheel loader backhoe with gas engine and the shuttle shift forward reverse with four speed transmission high and low range. I purchased the machine like 10 years ago an got it up and running pretty good and used it to scrap vehicles to earn the money back i spent to buy it with which at 19 was a big purchase at $2500. The ol girl has come a long ways, recently lost oil pressure and took lower end of engine apart to find oil pump shaft key had rolled out. Luckily with the help of a friend with a bridgeport milling machine he was able to cut a new key slot into pump shaft and i was able to reassemble pump and get it back up and running and have great oil pressure again. since the tractor has been sitting a year or so up until i got the oil pump fixed i have ran it and dug in the dirt and operates great just now i have no drive clutch what so ever. The tractor ran and drove and functioned properly except for no low range, but since has set i no longer can drive it. i press the clutch pedal and their is hardly any pressure cant believe the clutch pressure plate or springs would fail not under use. i can start the tractor and shift into any gear with pedal up and transmission doesn't make any noise what so ever. It never slipped when i was using it regulary to push and lift trucks and cars around. Any help is appreciated greatly thanks

I would expect that the stamped steel yoke that operates the throw-out bearing has come apart. It has a ball stud riveted in place and the stud screws into the clutch housing. likely the ball head is pulling out of the fork. There is also a enlarged head on the clutch rod from the pedal that can ware and pull out of the fork.

ok thank you guess I will have to try and remove the engine. If I remove the front bumper and hydraulic pump and radiator do you think I will have enough room to remove the engine ? I have never split a tractor before but am eager to learn.

Adirondack case would I still be able to start the tractor in gear and drive it? It seems as though the clutch pressure plate springs are weak
or collapsed and the clutch disk isn't spinning at all. Or the disk is so far worn it doesn't grab at all? Currently it doesn't drive whether
started in gear or shifted into gear like normal operation. thanks for your help :)

The hub in the clutch disc could have sheared or the linings came off the disc. Originally you said there was no resistance on the clutch pedal. Pieces of lining could be doubled up causing the soft pedal. You can pull the engine out of the tractor by removing everything in front of it mounted to the loader frame.

Ok thank you for explaining the possibilities. I didn't think of the clutch linings separating from the disk, that would be a new one to me but being only 29 im sure I will encounter all sorts of other weird scenarios working with the old bucket loader backhoe. Im sure where it is as old as it is that I cant overlook the simple things or expect it to still be like new inside lol. Im eager to remove the engine and see what has failed. Sorry I didn't clearly state what all the issues were that I was having with the tractor. With the weather getting nicer I can work on it more since all work will be performed outdoors. I cant wait to get it back functioning and put it to work.
