1936 John Deere A pistons

I have an 1936 unstyled John Deere A . I had to bore it out to .125. Now I can't find pistons. 630 pistons are the same diameter
but they are longer. Can they be made to work in the A?

With some digging you probably will locate a set, try evil bay. Rule #1 used to be do not bore or machine something till you had parts in hand.

Yes the pistons will work. you will need to have the wrist pin bushings honed out to fit the wrist pins in the 630 pistons. The pistons will go halfway past the spark plugs, but the notch in the piston face will allow the spark to ignite the fuel.I have a 38 A with pistons like that. Ran and pulled very good.

There is a lot of tractor pulling guys that if needed can make you new pistons with rings and put the wrist pin any were you need it. I would try on the pulling site and there is lots of guys that pulled apart there motor to go bigger and just might have some laying around cheap. Let us know if you still need some help I can dig up some sites you can get a hold of. There use to be a piston out of a cat motor that was like 3208 that a lot of guys when they board the block .125 would use for pulling if I remember right.

Might be easier and less expensive to replace the block, especially if you can find one with good pistons. Are your old pistons usable?

Are the old pistons still usuable or are they shot? Sleves can be made to put in a block with a dammaged bore to use orignal size pistons. I had a 68 year Ford that I had to do that with as from 65 up they are a sleveless engine. Whoever bored the block for you should be able to get the sleves you need for using the old pistons and do the installing for you. If your pistons are bad it might be easier to get good orignal sized used ones.
