Mid 70's Ford Industrial Tractor

I have a 1973 ish Ford 4500 3 cyl diesel tractor. My question:
From the top of the gas tank near the gas cap, there's short length of rubber fuel line, followed by a steel line which then screws into golf ball sized, what looks to be, metal sediment bowl maybe ? Two fuel steel lines connect at the top, and a steel line comes out the bottom ( with no fitting, 1 piece) that runs to the intake manifold, connecting to it with a fitting. Along with what appears to be a "plug in" wire sensor at the same location on the manifold. ( all 1 piece ) Does anyone know what that sediment type bowl thing is, does, or what that line ( both steel line and electrical wire ) that plugs into the manifold does? Manifold number is C5NE9425K for reference with a good picture of it on ebay
Any help greatly appreciated

excess fuel returning from the injectors to the tank fill this "bowl" which is a reservoir for the
thermo-start cold weather starting aid.The line then runs down to the intake to a heater/valve assy
which has a heating element controlled by the key switch. When the element is hot enough (mine takes about 45 seconds)
it releases fuel from the bowl which is ignited, which is sucked down the intake as the key is rotated to ignition
