in process of changing rods on jd..b over to insert type rods. took to local machine shop along with inserts, well they missed it by .015, luckily they missed on the tight side, will need rebored. question is, does anyone have an inside measurement for insert type rods ?? or site that might have it.

The parts manual shows insert type rods, part number AB4626, and various sizes of inserts to go with them. Serial number 960000 and up. (1941)

Parts catalogs show (std) inserts for BOTH the insert type "B" and the "50" as part Number AB4941 (sub for AB4627), so if the machine shop can get the specs for "50" rods that should be what they need. IMHO.

You may use Insert type rod bearings...IF the Journals are not egg-shaped..

Babbitt will tolerate much more "out-of-round" than "Inserts"..

Just so you will know ahead of time...
