Patching Tubes

I've read a number of old threads about patching tubes, and like the method some use of using a heat gun with cold vulcanizing materials. The question I have is, does doing it that way eliminate the need for the stitcher tool?

Thanks!

You do need to use a stitcher tool doing it that way. Now if you had the tool I have no you do not but I have one of those old clamp on tire patch tools that can be used even with out glue. You clamp the tube and patch in and then plug it in. Wait about 30 minutes unplug and wait till it cools

Most any auto parts store should have them or be able to get them in less then 24 hours. Last one I got I got at O'Reilly's.

That is why I like this old thing I have. Clean the tube where the hole is put on the glue and then the patch and then place it into this thing plug it in and wait 30 minutes. Unplug it and let it cool and your done.

Ctphill, I owned a tire shop for over 20
years. With modern glue and a tube patch
you do not need to heat anything. Make
sure you have a tube patch not a tire
patch.

I forgot to say, never set the glue on fire. It takes away some of the adhesion quality of the glue + leaves
a slight ash on top of the glue
