Marvel Shebler TSX carburetors

From my travels around the internet I'm getting the idea that MS TSX carbs were used on a number of makes and models. On my Case VAC's I've got a TSX 114 and a 587. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the two seems to be the throttle shaft linkage. Is it generally true that the differences in these carbs mainly run to external linkage?

I'm in need of an upper casting for a TSX 114, if all of the small bowl models are the same for that part, it would give me a lot more options trying to pick up basic parts on eBay or elsewhere.

Thanks!

Have you priced a brand new replacement carb? I know they seem pricey, but the used Marvel-Schebler carbs I've seen on Ebay usually sell for way more than they are worth, and by the time you buy 2 or 3 used carbs on ebay, just for the parts, you will have as much money invested as what you would have spent on a brand new carb.

Internally, the jetting and the venturis are sized for the displacment of the engine so they vary by application. All this is contained in the upper part of the carb.
IF the upper half fits your intake manifold and IF your old venturi and jets can go into the other upper body AND the upper and IF lower body mate up and IF the linkage is correct, you can use it. Lots of IFs

As you point out the linkage attach points can also be different.

Very true, however, the price of keeping it original is sometimes worth more than what a new unoriginal carb cost.

Thanks for the replies. Good points all around. I guess I'll wait until I can get the right model parts carb. (at a good price. Agreed, MS parts carbs are overpriced) My problem is I soaked the carb before putting a kit in, but when I tried to remove the idle screw it sheared off.

I have a carb that is off a VAC not sure the number of it but it is complete. It would be one that would make a good rebuild or parts carb. E-Mail is open

"old" is old, so he still uses the old classic view (his e-mail shows there), but not in the MODERN view.

Ha ha, thanks, I never would have figured that out. :)
