I have a JD 40-T my problum is the felt seals on the rockshaft will not stop hydrlic oil from leaking. Does anyone know of a modern type oil seal. or have any sugustions.

A year or two ago I replaced the (similar) seals on a 2010 and Deere had subbed the cork seals to "O" rings. They were a DARNED tight fit to get in place and I wondered if they'd actually make the lift bind on a no-load drop but have worked WELL and kept things oil-free.

I'd suspect you could do the same with your's if you could find the some "O" rings that would fit in there.

If the shaft and/or housing is worn. There is no
way a round seal can stop oil from flowing through
an oval hole.
Late two cylinder 30 series and the four cylinder
1010's had the rockshaft housing machined. And
bushings installed from the factory.Along with
updated seals.
