JD 148 loader bucket cylinder rebuild.

I am rebuilding the bucket cylinders. I sent them out to the hydraulic shop to be honed and a new rod. The packings kit I recieved has no instructions and they took both of them apart for me. Convieniently. I do not remember how the packings on the piston went. I do believe I have figured out how the packing itself goes, but then there are 1 o-ring and a similar flat o-ring that I do not remember where they go. Any ideas welcome

Perhaps a look at Deere parts.com would get you a picture that would help?
I helped a neighbor with his, but my memory is vague. We had JD kits, and I'm sure instructions. I don't recall any left over parts. However that's common in some generic kits. The only issue I recall was the direction of chevrons. It finally dawned on me that it depended on the cyl. The lift cylinders were pushing to lift, and the bucket cylinders were pulling to lift.

the flat ring is a back ring, sometimes they are actually cupped on one side to seat the oring. put the back ring in the groove around the outside of the headplate(away from the oil) then put the oring in the same groove. this keepes the oil from coming out between the tube and the headplate. rick
