Ignition problem on 1948 Brockway

I need a refresher course. I believe I got this question answered a couple years ago but have forgotten the answer.

I replaced the starter relay on the Brockway tractor with one acquired at Tractor Supply. Now the relay works when I push the button under the relay but just clicks when I try the ignition key. Is this caused by the wiring being too light from the key switch to the relay ?

Here's the ole girl.

Most likely there's excessive resistance in the circuit that feeds the solenoid coil. Look for undersized wiring, bad connections, a bad key switch, etc.

A poor connection between solenoid bracket and whatever it mounts to (ie. a bad ground) will do it too.

Nice looking old Brockway! Is the engine a Continental?
