Repair to Chrome On Hydraulic Rams

Hi

I have an old machine that has been parked up for a while and now the chrothome on some of the rams has started to rust; which will probably damage the seals if I use it.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to repair the chrome without
removing the ram and having it re-chromed?

Kind regards

I agree.

if the chrome flakes though.. the rod needs to be changed.. or sanded in those areas with superfine paper.. it woon't be perfect.. but you don't want chrome flakes in the system.. better to replace the rod... many times new rod is cheaper than a re-chrome..
