Pulling John deere 4030

Hi, New to posting here.
Can anyone tell me if I can get my jd 4030 with no cab, roll guard down 7000lbs. Looking to pulling starting at that class. Any insight would be appreciated.
 
Tractordata shows weights from 7300 pounds and up.....so I would think 7000 would be possible with some modification.

get some lighter cast rears if you want to stay with those type wheels, or steel nine boly will drop a lot of weight.
 
Thanks for the help. I know if I go to 9 bolt pressed I can loose about 600#. Going to look for narrow front now. Appreciate it guys. Just looking to have some fun in my old age lol.
 
What are the class rules? Farm stock? Speed limit?
How much power? Remember the 4030 is a 3020 based rear.
Your likely to be pulling with Ford 7000 s in that weight class and with the right setup they are tough to beat.
30 series convertible bolisters are about as common as hens teeth and command ridiculous prices.
 
Hi Mike. I have a 4030 and it's been a long time since I've pulled at all.
Retired now so need something fun and challenging. I want start stock, I picked
up a set of 9 bolt hubs last week. I'm sure I can get a narrow front on it. Any
thoughts on pump adjustment etc. Your always going to run into other tough
tractors so it will be a learning process. Thanks
 
I would look for a 6414 engine from JD construction equipment. It has 414 cu in. Your motor has 329cu.in. try yours first but don't spend any money on it. In a JD road grader the 414 has a turbo. So you can take it off and the pump will be big enough. Unless you can have a turbo. But this summer just line up Mark's behind the plate with 2 small screws. Before you take it off. Take injections. Lines. And slide pump back. Shaft will stay in engine. Take pump to local diesel shop and tell them you want it turned all the way up.
