Chrysler 265

I know in the Cockshutt combines the 265 would lug and pull through , while the 318 would stall once it lost its rpm. They had both engines in the 542s. Massey used them also in the super 92. They were a good engine. Not a whole lot more u can do to them other than keep them tuned up in top shape.

I started to make a 400 or so from a 265. Tried to put pistons and sleeves from a 706 IH in it bored one cylinder to fit the sleeve. Slow going. When we did thought we had weakened the deck. Decided it wasn't worth it. But you can stroke it to 5 maybe more. Compression is what it needs.

Retarding the cam timing will raise the rpm torque band, advancing the cam timing will lower the rpm torque band. I think Roger is talking about ignition timing though, just wanted to clarify.

Check the cam you got and see when ( in degree s ) intake valve is closed on compression you may change it and hurt your low end . Just a suggestion
