I was thinking of building a 37 wc for a puller. What should I run for rims and tires what manifold and carb should I run it is missing both right now which head should I run and is there any thing I should do to the head Ill be running 3500 and 4000 and 3750 at local fairs any help Whois be appreciated thanks

If yo need to spend a lot on parts to make it run consider a Gleaner Combine engine. Depending on your club that may make you competitive power wise. Not being an Allis man I would guess that you would have to spend a lot of money to get near the engine performance. Other's opinions may differ and may be more valid as they work with these tractors.

I built a WC 1945. Square axle. Over 20 yrs ago. It started with a 226 D17 engine. Stroked it to 5 3/4 used Masda 1600 rod size. Used Ford 460 .0060 Over smog pistons. Bored used John Deere 4020 sleeves. Bored them to fit pistons. Welded the Ford small end of rod to the Mazda big end. Yes welded. Figured out a 10 to 1 compression ratio. Would go 14 to 1 now. Had local speed shop flow head. Put big block Chevy ex valves in for intake valves. Left ex alone. Used Chevy double valve springs. Grinded cam to a Chevy RV grind from competition cams Memphis Tn. Used D17 intake manifold. Ran acid through it. Had Motec build a carb for 400 cubes. Even though it was only 366. Had 15.5 X 38 full cut tires. Also used 18.4X34. Full cuts and. 14.9 X 38 top cut. There was quite a few 1st gear pulls then. It would run 6 mph in 1st. . Also balanced everything. Electronic ign. There are a lot of 6x4 5/8 wc's out there. Have a friend who built a 500. But can't keep it together. I Burned a piston with the 18.4's on it a few yrs ago but have 4 more. Might sell. Wc is a 1945 war model.

There is a 37 there and also one thats looks to be a 36 with rc infeont of the serial number what one would be best to start with wanna do the 4 1/8 over bore and a wd45 crank

We did a WD 45 crank, sleeves, & pistons years ago with a D-17 manifold and made 52 hp on the dyno. We did put bigger intake valves in it.

I went and looked today for myself ant it is wc not rc on the serial number so its a 36 my neighbor next our shop has a used farm implement shop with old stuff and a junk yard so I got bad info on the number

The model E or E-3 Gleaner has the G-226 engine which will bolt right into a WC or WD chassis easily. Those engines are
63 and 67 flywheel HP @ 1650 full load RPM. The E will have 7.25 to 1 compression and the serial number will end with M.
The E-3 will have 8 to 1 compression and the serial number will end with Z. Oversize pistons of 4 1/8 bore are quite
common BUT often have 6.5 to 1 compression and make LESS HP than standard OEM 4 inch bore with 7.25 to 1 compression. I can
guide you in whatever direction you want to go, as I've built probably 25 of those engines in the last 45 years just for
pullers. 319-360-4788 after 5 pm weekdays.
