I pull a farmall m in the antique class and i was wondering which would be the better choice intake manifold for pulling LP or one off a 450 farmall looking for more power i pull in the 5500 and 6000 class mostly. it has 150 lbs of compression and some carb. work looking for you guys opinions.

Thanks in advance.

LP intake off 450, LP head rocket gov. , get your RPM's 20 percent over 1600, electronic Ignition. recurve Distributor. To get more power Bore and Stroke is the way to go.

What i was really wondering was a 450 gas manifold better then a LP manifold to put on a m to up the power just a little bit i didn't put 450 gas on my post my fault sorry.

Robertw thanks again.

If you can flow test to compare .
Im told the the aftermarket replacement have more flow .
Got a competition Engine builder near you ?

5-6 hp from a manifold only makes very little difference, cam, cubes, stroke, and carb, ignigtion work is all needed to increase about double hp.

That is about the horse power i was looking for i'am just a hobby like puller mostly small towns nothing big for me just wondering which would be the better one of the two thanks guys.

The bore going into the intake part of the head, are all the same size, Lp or gas, about 59 horse is all you can get, unless you do some major engine work, but boring, and stroking can get really costly, but you get a differant cam profile, to hold the valves deeper, that will help some, that guy in Algona Iowa quit, i think, he was good cam guy!!!!

I have a 450 gas engine that has a Thompson Rock-It governor on it. It has the old tractor supply comformatic pistons in it at 8:1 compression. The engine and head had been rebuilt with new valves and guides and had low hours on it before I got it. With what is commonly called the 450 cold manifold, stock cam, carb modifications, flow enhancements, I can turn 69 hp on the dyno with the right fuel. It will turn 67 all day long. I have a Super M with a lot of hours, high domed pistons, original head, and with a Thompson Rock-It on that I can make 63 HP. That said there is no replacement for displacement. Cubic inch makes more horsepower. The reason I have not spent the money is because if I have to spend thousands to be competitive in a sport that goes at a walking pace, I am switching to drag racing.
