Injector size question?

Theoretically, if a pump was putting out 500cc of fuel, what would be the difference between running a 9mm tip that is 4x0.40 vs a 7mm tip that is 7x0.255 in percentage or volume wise. I have a set of each and am debating on which to install. I have the 7mm to 9mm adapter washers already for the smaller tips to be ran in the larger injector holes but I am not sure if the swap will be worth it. Any thoughts on this?

What pistons are you running? The spray angle and layout of the
spray holes are totally different. Are those tips stock or have
they been EDmd for larger diameter spray holes? The number
stamped on the tip is in mm not inches. Neither one will flow
that kind of fuel your talking. We used the 7x.255 tip on all the
55 series engines running in the 380-420cc range effectively in
3000 rpm farm classes.

Running stock pistons from a 619 out of a 860B scraper. The 500cc number is only theoretical. I have nowhere near that much fuel. I am more interested in whether it is even worth my time to change them. The tips are factory tips on a RE48480 injector from a 10.1 in the 350 to 400 hp range. I am trying to reach the 400hp mark and that is it. This is for a county fair pull and that is it. I have turned the full stop screw in 2 to 3 turns and installed larger delivery valves. Just doesn't seem to have the fuel it should. Wondering if I should try the larger injectors.

Okay. Well your not going to get much fuel out of that particular pump. It most likely has start retard notch plungers in it and max delivery on that is maybe 200cc and that is only fine tuning on the test stand. Just turning the screw on that can be a recipe for disaster because you dont know when start retard begins on that pump.

Fairly certain that is the issue I had two weeks ago when I first turned the screw in. It did all kinds of weird stuff. I pulled the governor off to see if something had cammed over internally and found nothing. Reinstalled and only turned the screw 2 to 3 turns and all was well. Just not enough fuel. Guess I will have to start looking for a different pump. Thanks for the insight sir!
