On Friday evening June 24th I pulled my Oliver 1950 at the Adrian,MO tractor and steam show classic pull..I hadn't pulled it in several years..They had added 2 new classes at Adrian for 2022, 9000 to 10,000lbs and 10,000 to 11,000 lbs for 1939-1970 models..Its a weight % pull and I was the lone entry in my class weighing 10,900 lbs..We used a 1970's sled. There were 40 tractors there in 10 or so different classes...I made the only pull to the cone which is going up a steep grade...They wanted to stop me so I repulled with them adding more weight..The pull back tractor was also a Oliver 1950 which weighed 11,500 with 23.1x34 tires and he wanted to pull against me...I pulled first and took it almost to the start of the grade and spun out..The other Oliver spun out about 10 ft behind me.I never did hear the weight percentage that we pulled..It was all for fun and we had a good time.

On Saturday evening I pulled my Hot Stock 1466 IH at Clinton,MO..4 out of 7 of us got the horn for being over the speed limit...Emma Potter was first up and got the horn but took her option and came back in a lower gear for 3rd place..The other 3 of us took the DQ...

DQ-Lonesome Loser (Me) 1466 IH 316.4
DQ-Hazel Hill Deere 4020 JD 316.2
DQ-Smokin Beer Deere 4020 JD-Unknown distance

1st Full Rut 6030 JD 314.00
2nd-Hayraker 5020 JD 312.04
3rd-Rocket Science 4430 JD 311.11 (Emma Potter)
4th-All Deered Up 4010 JD 307.5

My GPS showed 11.8 mph but the sled said I was over 13 mph as were all the others..I'm on my 4th GPS and can't find one that is correct or that I can read.
After just 3 pulls I'm already out of the points race..I guess I will try and drive it off the tach but that's hard to do...I have enclosed a link to pictures of me and Emma (2 pics of her)at Clinton,MO...You will have to go sideways for awhile to reach pictures of us...My tractor left the line with the front up..

Have you tried a radar my buddies have them on 8 and 12 mph antiques. I use a bicycle speedometer. Readout not very big. But I can see it. Have to wear a head lite at night. Although most sleds we pull have a big read out. Also I know your turbo tractors are much harder to control than our NA tractors.

Thanks...I havent tried radar yet...I'm currently using a bicycle speedometer that's only been accurate at 1 out of 3 pulls this year.....I wear glasses but can't get them on with any of my helmets ...Last year I could go full throttle at 250 ft and never blow the horn..Over the winter I sped my tractor up nearly 2 mph and I can now blow the horn at 300 ft..That sure makes it tough to drive...Several other pullers in my class are also having lots more trouble with the horn this year than last year...

The Potters in my class use a John Deere GPS mph read out that they only paid $250-300 for several years ago..Its pretty accurate but I guess its no longer available...I used it 4 times last year..I may try my bicycle GPS one more time and just stay at 11.0 MPH as that seems to be some over 12 mph on the sled..When I hit 11.8-11.9 mph that's a little over 13 mph on the sled.....However, it wasnt at Dover,MO...Both antique sleds I hook with have a score board with a mph read out plus the Spring River Pullers that I pull with some also have a mph score board and have had for 12 years or so..MSTPA where I pull my 1466 with is the only one with no mph read out....Thats where I need it the most...

I will pull my 427 Continental powered 101 Massey with Spring River Pullers on Saturday night at Cassville,MO....It will be in the 5000 lb class with a 10 mph speed limit..I may use my bicycle GPS and compare it to their mph read out...My tractor can only run 7.5-8 mph as the 427 is stock..

STOCK????---OK. Do you still have the high RPM Ford? Most pulls around here have the speed readout at the end of the track--but that is usually 400 ft. and my eyes are good for 300. It used to be you had 100 ft. to set your speed but around here there is no grace so you can never go over the speed limit--simple as that. I need glasses---Tee

Radar is the way to go but blow the horn early before cone because some times the sled horn is a litte off from my radar. Just remember the difference and don go over it.

Yes,I still have the high rpm Ford...Hopefully, it will get its first hook for 2022 at Chetopa,KS on July 4th morning...The pull starts at 9 AM....We still have the 100 ft cone at all pulls. The score boards are big enough that I can still see them with my glasses on at 300-400 ft away.

I havent pulled the 101 Massey with the big Continental since Sept 2020..Had to clean the carb and get new plugs to make it run right..Pretty much anything goes with Spring River Pullers as long as you stay close to 3000 rpms and stay under 10 mph..18.4 tires max to 10,000 and the 13200 can run 20.8's.

We are nearly a month on very little rain so I hope that both pulls get rained out..Last year the July 4th pull at Chetopa,KS was cancelled because of 8 ft of water on the track.

I just got off the phone with a guy 100 miles away that's building me a twin to what Emma Potter runs on her 4430 JD in my class..Its not cheap...I can get it next Tuesday in time for my next hook on Thursday at Butler,MO...Emma stays at 12-12.2 mph in a 12.5 mph class...I used it 4 times last year and it works great..Us old guys in the class have trouble hearing the horn thru our helmets..
