IH 1066 HORSEPOWER GUESSES!

I am pulling this year against a 1066 that has a stock long block but has big injectors, a healthy pump, lots of rpms, and a turbo off of a DT466 road truck engine from back in the 80's. It has a twin disc clutch to hold it. How much ballpark horsepower is it making? I need to know how far I should go with mine. Any legitimate guesses? Thanks in advance

Depends on how healthy the pump is. 11,13 or 15 mm? Even without a great pump you can get in to the 250-300 HP range. Much more with better pumps.

I believe plunger size is most likely stock.

It sounds like you are considering getting your pump seriously worked up. Talk to the shop. They can tell you pretty closely where you will be if you were to double the fuel output, and they can tell you pretty closely where that 1066 is.

It is not the only competition but it is the tractor that always wins. This is also a bit of friendly family competition too...
