Goodyear Power Torque tires

Seen an add for a set of new old stock goodyear 6 ply 16.9 x 38 power torque tires. dont know much about them. Would they be a decent tire for pulling?

Not the first choice for most in the pulling world, but all tires can and do work with the right air, tracks all vary and so do tires, 45 degree not so good on soft loose tracks, but great to fair on most hard tracks, Goodyears are not sought after like Firestones and BFG, but some have had success with them, find the sweet spot on air and have fun. I use what ever is free or cheap. LOL

Nothing to compare to in that size for me.
But bought set a 15.5 38 Firestone for the tractor . I think they are smaller od than the 15.5 38 Goodyears that came originally. Go look at them ,I think they are taller if that helps you. Beside a good looking at them will reveal a lot of hidden issues .

I did not see the New part, most choose to not use new tires for pulling, too much tread in most situations,NOS might be hard, but most new tires are soft.

The sun and prolonged exposure to weather seems to harden the tires, without a lot of UV inhibitor tires naturally dry out and lose the oils that are in the rubber. Some tire cutters heat the tires to aid in the process of removing the natural oils.

This tractor with the Goodyears on won the 5500 lb. class at the big pull at Sigourney this year--1st out of 70 tractors???--Go figure--Mel will probably say it was the fuel or the G that made it a winner!!---Tee

GOODYEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha-Ha, Dad bought a nearly brand new pair of 15.5x38 8 ply GY Power-Torque tires off the neighbor when he had them taken off his brand new 4020 and had a pair of FIRESTONE DEEP TREADS put on. We had GY 15.5 Super-Torques, the 45 degree beefy zig-zag lug tire on a FARMALL 450 and they were a better gripping tire IMHO. The guy with the Deep Treads had a local welding shop splice in 2-3 inches of width into his rims and put brand new 18.4x38 8 ply BFG Power-Saver radials on. Even with the M&W turbo he had plenty of traction with the radials. I bet there were fist fights over those Deep Treads when they went on sale between the teactor pullers. Lots of hard surface road miles on them too, He pulled his grinder-mixer 2 miles about every 2-3 days to feed his hogs.

GOODYEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No big tee it was the fenders!

It all adds up. Good well built tractor, right fuel, nice fenders, good driver and of course the right tires for the track.
