Oliver 88 clutch issues

I have 88 puller with 310, have issues with it putting in gear, would grind and would have to force it in gear. Replaced clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and had flywheel surfaced. Purchased from Ky. Clutch very reputable. Pulled all summer, still hard to get in gear. I can tie down clutch pedal and can spin driveline with my hand. Does not spin like a top but fairly free. Have not checked adjustment on fingers, can this be the issue? Where should they be adjusted to? Any and all recommendations on what may help appreciated.

(quoted from post at 05:08:36 10/17/21) Never saw a Oliver pulling tractor that you didn't have to grind into gear.
Would running alight grade or low level of trans/rear end oil cause less drag on drive line making it spin easier?

You could make a funky clutch brake. With a board and a tire tread nailed to it. But might be better to just start it in gear and shift it quick. It does idle slow. May need to put a screw in throttle quadrant for a decent idle then have carb or pump set for about 300.
It doesn't need to sit around and idle anyway. lol.

We struggled with a 77 one time that acted similar. It turned out there was enough old grease packed into the recess of the of the flywheel (behind the pilot busing) that it caused the driveshaft to continue spinning with the flywheel. You could still get it into gear but it wasn't how it should be. We cleaned the recess out really well, beveled the leading edge of the driveshaft and put just a touch of wheel bearing grease on it. This seemed to solve the problem.

Is your free travel at least 3/4? I would think the
fingers would be preset on pressure plate to right
height, but could be off ?
