Garbage Truck Sled

Went to two pulls over the weekend--One was postponed a day because of rain so the original sled was not there but the face-book post said the red sled would be there--one person said-oh-the garbage truck would be there. Did not know what he meant but when we got there I saw what he meant. I have seen pictures of them but have never seen one in person. I see why that guy called it a garbage truck for a few years ago when I was looking for a truck, E-bay was full of these flat-nosed Mack chassis. They were ex-heavy duty garbage truck chassis. I looked it over good and whoever built it put a lot of effort into it--It worked GOOD..

Stan pulls a 2255 Oliver in the pro-farm class--He pulled Abe so he wanted me to drive the 2255 but I said --no--I didn't want to break it--maybe tomorrow--About 3 seconds after I took this picture he poked a hole in the side of his oil pan with something--oil on the track!! Thanked God that I wasn't driving--

Picture of the sled--Detroit 6-71 power!!!!!!

I pulled on a truck sled one time and will never again. I was going down the track perfectly straight and all of a sudden the tractor made a sharp left turn. Killed my hook right now. I mentioned it to a long time puller from the area and he said just watch what he did to you. Another guy was having a good pull and the guy in the truck turned his wheel and his tractor did just like mine. He said he looks out for the locals and will do it to new guys that show up. Then there the video of the guy pulling his pickup up i9n Fargo at an indoor pull. Don't know what went wrong but the pickup went over the concrete barrier at the end of the track and into the side of the building. Truck sled pushed him right into it.

Wow--No sand pile--The sled operator had his head in his A$$--Accident waiting to happen! I pulled it twice in the 6 mph class--won the 4500--went 6.1 in the 5000 and my own wife who was writing the results--DQed me!!! My buddy Stan pulled it in the 5500 and their was turbo and V-8 tractors in it--He got 4th. Like I said--First time I have ever pulled one. Had a pull Sun. also--Got beat by 50 ft. by a WD-45-????????????--Go figure--See Ya in Nov.---Tee

We will have to bring Tim's 420 to the next pull. He runs with the Allis's and gets lucky sometimes. He might give you a run for it. HA HA

Thank goodness that there were never any truck sleds like that one in my area..I did drive the 1066 IH Hot Stock pictured below as a friend couldn't be at a pull and no one else wanted to drive it, not even his step dad....I got 2nd place and drove it off the track giving a big sigh of relief that no parts were laying on the track....Believe it or not that tractor is now in Australia and a teenage girl pulls it.

1206--Nice looking IH! Towards the end of the season we swap tractors once in awhile--It's kind of fun to watch your tractor go down the track. The sled was out of Minn. Never saw it before--Should have taken more pics. of the weight transfer mechanism--had cylinders pushing down a pan under the frame right behind the Detroit--Worked----Tee

I know it is not a G

Somebody has to be last place....Been there and done that more than once...(grin) I've been trying to get someone to drive my 6000 Ford once so I that I can watch it but so far no takers...I think all those rpms and the automatic tranny scares them...

Right now I'm 1 point ahead of Emma in the MSTPA 10,500 HS points race with 6 pulls to go..If she pulls back ahead enough that I cant catch her,I thought about letting her Dad pull my 1466 IH against her 4430 JD..Her Dad is a former Pro Field puller (had 2 at one time) and has always pulled John Deeres...He said he would do it and it would be fun to watch him do it..

Heres the 6000 Ford at Stotts City,MO last Sunday afternoon...It got rained out on Friday eve after about 15 hooks so we had to come back....Its minus the left fender (fiber glass)that broke off on the way down...It stayed on the trailer and is now back on the tractor better than ever....It was a down hill track and it hit 6300 rpms at 13.9 mph...

I finally beat Emma at Harrisonville,MO about 3 weeks ago...She was # 1 hook and pulled 317 ft and dropped to last..I was # 5 hook and pulled 322 ft..Emma came back after me and pulled 316 ft which still was 2nd place..She came and congratulated me..I changed the weights around some on my tractor and also went up 1 lb on the tire pressure.

GO Emma go!!!!! Ha-Ha--It is good to see the younger generation pulling tractors--We will have something to watch when sitting in our chairs with wheels on them---Tee

I've got to get a picture of Emma and I standing together in front of one of our pullers....At age 13 she's a great driver,is a real nice young lady, and is very quiet and polite...Shes a crowd favorite...We are way short of young pullers in my area...At age 15-16 she will be on a faster tractor as Dad still has his old Pro Field 9500 lb JD.

Heres Emma driving off the track at Carthage,MO last year after winning the 10 MPH 10,000 lb class with Spring River Pullers...I believe it was her first ever win on the 4430...That tractor used to be based a little over 1 mile south of me.
