Small tires on front

What is the advantage of having smaller tires on the front than what a tractor would normally have? I have seen some that should have 7:50X18's have 7:50X16's for instance. It brings the front of the tractor down, but the hitch is usually restricted to a certain height anyway. I'm just about smart enough to tie my own shoes, but this issue is a bit of a head scratcher.

Weight, any weight you can lose, gives you more weight you can move to where you need it most.

Just my opinion. Your 2 wheel drive tractor pivots around the rear axle. So As soon as the center of balance gets over the rear axle weight is reduced on rear axle. That is why most people have their front weights ad low as possible, to load and drive on the scales. Besides it looked cool!

Looks like Big Tee blowing smoke in the background. Smaller tires on the front helps with weight transfer. When it picks the front up so the wheels are just off the ground the weight is transferred to the rear. When they get up in the air you start to loose your hitch height and traction. Some guys like theirs way up, I like to keep mine just off the ground.

A little higher than I like.

About right for me.

Where did he come from?? Hi Tee.

Most drawbar height rules are in the 18-20 inch range. Most old tractors were quite a bit shorter than that from the factory. So lowering the front helps boost the hitch height. And it looks cool.

If you drag out the old trigonometry book, you will figure out that the angle of the tractor frame makes very little difference in the distance the CG is from the rear axle.

It puts the motor lower. Hence the center of gravity lower. I can have my front wheels 4 off the ground and my tractor is still not level. CG Its not moving forward its moving up

What a picture--I look like a 90 year old bum!!!--Thanks Mel---Tee
