IH 606 for a puller?

606-1066

New User
Hello
I grew up on a farm and I grew up on a 606 in the 1066 with a variety of other tractors.

My question to the group is that I have my old families 606. I went to antique pull the other day and it seemed that the Oliver Supers, Super M, and 560s put on a good show.

I realize cubic inches are king and also understand all of the Diamond and combine engine swaps for all of the different tractors.

Is there a big inch block that will fit into my 606 without a whole lot of mods?

I searched the site for 606 and did not find anything on pullers. Are there any 606s out there pulling?

Should I just look for a 560 and be done?

Thanks in advance.

Check local rules. A 606 is to new
to pull in many antique pulling
circuits. Locally, cut off is 1959.
Can pull newer serial number but that
model had to be built by 59.

Forget the 606, too new. First choice look for a 460. Lighter
than a 560 and faster 1st gear. Its easier to add weight than
remove it. Look for a C-301 from a 715 combine. Now you
have the equipment for a very good start.

Not wanting to argue about 1959. Have been to pulls here in Illinois where were letting up to 1971 models in, but no turbo's. Could just call it a 460 Utility. Because that's what it is. I've pulled against 466 Diesels on Gas bored and stroked to 800 cu. And RD 450's up to 640 are common. They will all fit. Have fun with it
