I Knew It Was Going To Happen

Three pulls ago I finally got a new throttle setup on my 1466 where I could control the rpms much better..It only took my 3rd pull after this to get my 1st DQ for going over 12.5 MPH..I think there were 3-4 of us in a class of 9 that got the horn....I usually go full throttle a little after 200 ft but it didnt work last night....I drive by the seat of my pants so will try and be a little more conservative this evening at Garnett,KS.

The pull last night was at Boonville,MO and they were running 3 tracks...The Missouri Farm Pullers were on track 3 and they pull classes from 8 to 18 MPH....The horn was going off all the time on their track...

That's pretty frustrating. Get down the track enuf times and you will amaze yourself how many ways there are to shoot ones self in the foot. Long trips home,,,,

I'm enjoying seeing you have the pulling fun you obviously have. gm ;-)

Know where you are coming from. Made the pull of a lifetime (maybe) Last night at New Harmony In. Last night. 4500 8 mph. The D17 just hooked up down at the end and last time I looked the little bike speedo showed 7.8. I wasn't quite wide open but I could feel the sled getting heavier, well I just nailed it DQ. I never heard the horn but when I turned around He gave me thumbs down. But weighted up to 5000 and won both 6 mph and 8 mph. Went to Greenville Il. Today won the 4500 6 mph. And got 2nd in the 5000 8 mph. Also got 3rd in 4500 no limit, but that was the same as last. Just put 60 more pounds on front from back after winning the 6 mph. I think would have took 180. Can't win them all! Any way had a great weekend. Hope you did too . I finally built a good throttle also.

Gary, heres my class at your old home town pull last Sunday night July 18th..I'm at the 1 minute mark...I came in 4th place, just 2 ft out of 2nd place..They had a huge crowd, maybe 2500-3000 people?Win or lose I'm having fun....Next Saturday its a over 400 mile round trip to Owensville,MO for a MSTPA pull..
Pleasant Hill,MO MSTPA

Despite the one DQ it sounds like you had a great weekend of pulling with the D-17...

I just checked the results of the Boonville,MO pull where I got DQ'ed in the 10500 Hot Stock...1st place was 283 ft even and 2nd place was 282 ft even..Several friends said my pull was 282.06 which would have given me 2nd place out of a very tough class of 9 tractors...I was only a 1/10th MPH over the 12.5 MPH limit...It made me feel good that I could run with some of the toughest tractors in MO....They all have GPS and I dont.

Hi Toots..(big grin) It sounds like that was a name that you earned the hard way..The horn seems to be a way of life for us mph pullers...I love pulling the Ford 6000 in the 5000 Open class as its bury the throttle and go....A couple of years ago I was pulling my 101 Massey in a 4000 lb 3 MPH class and had it won by over 50 ft as I got thru the mud hole and no one else did...For some crazy reason I decided I need to open it up some more and went 3.1 MPH to get the DQ..The sled operator said I was right on 3 MPH for the entire pull but it sure didnt feel like it.

Heres the video from last nights 10500 Hot Stock class at Garnett,Kansas....Only 3 of us made it out there and I some how managed to finish 3rd..In 2019 I was the first puller down the track and even though I drew #13 I once again started the show off again for 2021...I was pretty conservative on the driving and probably should have dropped and came back..It pulled me off to the side but I still pulled 322 ft....Emma won it at 330 ft....I love pulling over in Kansas as its not hilly and curvy plus theres not tons of people on the roads-etc..It was a beautiful moonlit night with a great crowd and a track that took some horsepower....My neighbor John S that pulls a 9500 Pro Field 1206 IH had won 4 of 5 hooks this year....Last night he snuffed it at 344.07 which was the first time he hadn't spun it out this year...The Swishers IH from Reading,KS pulled 344.10 to win it..

They had sure had a great 5900 Mod class at Garnett...Scott Bracken's blown 526 Hemi from Pleasant Hill,MO pulled 348.10 to win it..J R Williamson from Chanute,KS pulled his blown Hemi to 348.09 for 2nd..Danny Metcalf's high RPM alky DT 360 IH powered Mod from Jasper,MO was 3rd at 347.08..

The neighbor that rents my farm came in 5th out of 11 Pro Stock 4WD trucks in his class...

I'm lost in the 60's..I have a old 3G flip phone that has to be replaced by August 1st as there will no longer be service for it....I use one about 2-3 hours a year.

Most of the time I'm the lone IH in the 10,500 Hot Stock class...Its tough to handle all of those hard running JD's,maybe some day..I have the power but need to do a better job of driving-etc...Next year I may put a 1-2 tooth higher gear in to turn the tires harder at the end...I've had two different GPS setups on it that I wasnt happy with.

While JD's rule Hot Stock its just the opposite in the MSTPA 9500 Pro Field class..Its mostly all IH's except for one lone JD.
